Brownfields Assessment Demonstration Pilots: Provides States, communities, & other stakeholders $400,000-$700,000 per grant over 2 years to prevent, assess, safely cleanup, & sustainable reuse Brownfields. States, cities, towns, counties, U.S. Territories, & Indian tribes are eligible to apply. 2003-2004 applications due last fall, check website for 2004-05 information. US Department of Agriculture:
Community Facilities Improvement: Grant funds can be used to construct, enlarge, or improve community facilities for health care, public safety, and community and public services. This can include the purchase of equipment required for a facility's operation. Grants are available to public entities such as municipalities, counties, and special-purpose districts, as well as non-profit corporations and tribal governments.Grants cover up to 75% of project costs.

Treasurer's Office:
California Pollution Control Financing Authority (CPCFA): Assist in redeveloping contaminated "brownfields," and providing Smart Growth Grants to communities that lack the resources to implement smart growth strategies. Any entity interested in building on a brownfield or implementing Smart Growth policies in California is eligible for this program. The program is being expanded.
